If you look at the latest submissions at http://hwdb.ubuntu.com/ , you
can see that all of them are broken, none contain real system data.

this isn't proxy related. i can confirm it over a non-proxy residential
connection. proxy settings set to auto-detect, and connectivity
confirmed prior to opening the hw database.
