Can you tell us what kind of card you have (post output of lspci)? Does it see
it but not use it or not see it at all, or just not connect?

Doing lspci, shows under network controller: Intersil Corporation Prism
2.5 Wavelan Chipset (rev 01)
When I tried to resolve the problem on my own and doing:
sudo lshw -C network, it gave me the same information for the wireless card.
My IBM A30
