Synaptic Package Manager Preference Change Locks Desktop When Applied
exactly the same on my PC with 8.10_x32, except that it does not freeze
the whole desktop, just sypaptic freezes. Every time I want to change
something in the preferences, synaptic freezes. I have to kill it then.
The problem can be reproduced, with the same results all the time.

I've tried on 5 different machines now with the same results. I do have
one machine that refuses to install a few packages for unknown reasons.
They are grayed out in the update manager. It also tells me a partial
distro upgrade is available but that just locks up the desktop so I
ignore that.
Are you trying to install a package without success?
Or you change the settings without install any package?
I've tried the second, and nothing happened.

Can you reproduce this desktop lock-up, or was it a one time thing? I
tried doing the same thing (Selecting 'Delete downloaded packages after
installation' and then hitting OK). But nothing happens, and i just
return to the synaptic main screen.
