Public bug reported: There are minor differences between versions from Debian and Ubuntu. That's why git has to be manually updated on Ubuntu. Maybe good to include 'if' statements in the Debian version for Ubuntu flavours?
Anyway, if there is no other possibilities than diverging here, please sync git from Debian unstable to Ubuntu Devel.
