Not sure if this was a later version of autofs, network or systemd
which repaired this issue. At least with the versions installed it is
now done the right way: unmount network mounted filesystems (any of
them: nfs, smb, sshfs, ...), then turn down networking. Not as before:

Thank you for taking the time to make this bug report and make Ubuntu
better. Are there any specific errors you are experiencing from autofs
stopping after the network connection has been stopped? Also are you
able to reproduce this every time the network is shut off?
