i have a working fix (at least for me). I am using FFox 3.0.6 and was
experiencing the same problem since...ever?
Compiz: 1:0.7.8.-0ubuntu4.1 package

Same problem here with Hardy and Firefox 3 and window placement on
"centered"...only Firefox window goes to upper
left...randomly...sometimes. None of my other applications have this

Sorry but Firefox-2 is getting near EOS and they wont be fixing anything

As far as I am aware, this behavior is only with Firefox. Evince does
not seem to have this behavior.
Yes, I do still have this behavior occur in 3.0b5.

Yes, the "Place Windows" plugin is enabled.
It is in placement mode "Centered". With "workarounds" ticked.
