Already said on the second comment that I have the problem, but I'd like
to add that I am also using the slide show, and that the first image
appears okay. Upon changing the wallpaper, the screen turns white, and
every time the wallpaper changes, I see the new one in a flash.

I can confirm the white wallpaper after changing it. I also see it
flickering for a glance when selecting another one. (Nvidia GF 7900GS,
Destop Effekts on/off)

It seems to only happen when the wallpaper changes after log-in, like if
you change it or if the slideshow is enabled. I have slideshow enabled
and the first wallpaper upon logging in shows up fine. When the
slideshow flips to the next wallpaper it flickers on for a second, then
goes white.
