i can reproduce this problem as well. i am sure it is a problem with the
W810's crappy usb-storage firmware.
identifying the same behavior in windows is a non-starter as windows'
kernel logging facility is a farce and would never give this level of
detail without installing third party tools.

Very well, please try again in Windows, but please check if the transfer is
slowish there as well.
You could change the bug status yourself you know, you click on the arrow that
points down next to Affects Ubuntu, then switch the status :)

I haven't had a chance to try it in Windows, but I can't imagine the
same problem exists there -- after all they guarantee Windows support
and I'm sure they tested it thoroughly there. If it's not working on
Windows, that's a valid reason for returning your device and getting
your money back. Not
I'm getting the same thing here with my Sony Ericsson W850i. Transfers
are slow and amarok mostly refuses to work with the device..

Ah I think I should mark this one as invalid. You have the same slow speed
problemsin Windows XP right? It's Sony-Ericsson's fault, not Ubuntu's.
I use a memory card reader and it's super fast USB2.0 :)
