Have you tried with the shortname=mixed parameter in the fstab's mount option?? the defaut is lower Example # /dev/sdb1 /dev/sdb1 /media/phatdisk vfat defaults,utf8,umask=007,gid=plugdev,shortname=mixed 0 0 -- All-upper-case files/folders names appear as lower-case
