Perhaps this is the missing information. I face the exact same bug; expo was working fine until I updated to another kernel (I believe 2.6.24-18 or -19. Here's what I get when I run ccsm from the command line: GConf backend: There is an unsupported value at path /apps/compiz/plugins/scale/allscr
