Sorry for the delayed response. I'm closing this as sergevn (the
original reporter) commented this was due to linux-ubuntu-modules not
being installed.
Kasimir, the issue you are seeing is a different bug. It appears to be
a duplicate of bug 192559 which should be resolved in the
Upgraded today Kubuntu from 7.10.to 8.04
$ sudo modprobe snd_hda_intel
WARNING: Error inserting snd_hda_codec
(/lib/modules/2.6.24-14-generic/updates/snd-hda-codec.ko): Unknown symbol in
module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
FATAL: Error inserting snd_hda_intel
Also the same with today's (April 3rd 2008) kernel update to
2.6.24-14-generic and 2.6.24-14-386, tried both of them.

@sergevn - what version and flavor of the linux-ubuntu-modules package
do you have installed? Care to make sure you're using the linux-ubuntu-
modules-2.6.24-14-generic version and flavor with the 2.6.24-14-generic
kernel.
