Sorry that I took this much time to answer. Ive been away, busy and/or
lazy (Ive no really good excuse). I installed (just now) the linux-
backports package, and after a reboot the led is working beautifully.
Previously I was running driver version 1.2.0. The package upgraded it
to 1.2.25.
Again, can anyone confirm they have the linux-backports-modules package
installed? Can you also include your 'sudo lspci -vvnn' output to
verify you have the same hardware as the original reporter and thus
using the same drivers. Assuming you use the iwlwifi drivers, can you
provide the output
I was about to report this, i have the same problem on my inspiron 640m,
the time it takes to connect is much better but there is no light

I have the same problem with Hardy on my T60 laptop. It worked fine
under Feisty.

Hi SVisor,
Did you try installing the 'linux-backports-modules' package which
contains an updated version of iwlwifi (version 1.2.25) as well as
containing the fix for bug 176090. Please let us know your results.
