Public bug reported: release: 8.04 Please note: I DON'T KNOW which package is responsible for the behavior. I'm GUESSING: gnome-system-tools 2.22.0-0ubuntu6
In previous releases, partitions show up in nautilus or on the desktop using their mountpoint. E.g. /media/data/ shows up as "data" on the desktop icon. In Hardy, the same thing is showing up as "12 GB Volume". This is ugly and for some reason rename is blanked out even for root, but it wouldn't be a major problem by itself. However, that also seems to be the name now expected in paths, and that's a huge problem. For instance, I imported my old Thunderbird settings to my clean install of Hardy with a clean install of Thunderbird. Even though in "Server settings" the path to mail is /media/data/mail and even though that's the same path I get if I browse to the folder, Thunderbird just trundles and can't find it. I asked about this on the forum (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=748172). Apparently, it's something in Hardy...? ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- new partition naming breaks paths https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/213476 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
