If I blacklist the saa7134 module the kernel will boot up. I have three AverMedia A180 tuners. The live 8.04rc hangs too. The 8.04 beta worked better. Attached is my dmesg which shows some problem with the alsa pcm device. ** Attachment added: "a180.txt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/135

The same problem here on a x64_64 after updating 2.6.24-15-generic to 2.6.24-16-generic in Hardy. Interesting is, that a parallely installed kernel 2.6.24-16-rt boots normally. Hardware: - Board: Asus P5B, Intel HDA - Processor: Intel Code 2 Duo E6300 - Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS - TV Card Fly DVB-T

Confirmed here on x86_64. Going from kernel 2.6.24-15-generic to 2.6.24-16-generic, boot now hangs at Loading Hardware Drivers. Message on the console is "hda_codec - Unknown model for ALC883, trying to auto-probe from BIOS", after which the boot hangs. That message is present in the older -15
