OK, I'm frustrated with this old nedit version, so I have packaged-up
the latest CVS and posted it here. It works fine now. I'll get some
i386 binaries up at some point.

For me the issue seems to have gone away during the Hardy upgrade and is
now replaced by an issue where the Open dialog does not function
properly. The issue is similar to the one described here:

Same problem here.
Running nedit on AMD64 Hardy, forwarded through ssh to i386 Gutsy xserver.
Ctrl+c segfaults 100% of time.

I wanted to add that this issue is seen on any version of nedit run from
any other machine. It crashes like this when being displayed via this
Ubuntu machine's X server. it doesn't seem to matter if I have export
XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 set or not.
