From my experience libao-pulse is not necessary. I modified libao.conf and changed default_driver=pulse. I don't have package libao-pulse installed I am running Hardy. Everything is working perfectly. This simple change fixed many things for me. -- libao.conf wrong in Hardy - it's using alsa
