Perhaps the Media tab from the Nautilus preferences can be mirrored in
the Removable Drives and Media Preferences exactly as it is preserving
the translations.

Declining for hardy, changing the design is an upstream task for next
cycle and changing the menu label would break translations. Unmasking
the nautilus item could be an option, but those are still in a tab

I would argue, in this case, that breaking the translations is simply
not a problem as ALL translations are currently 100% inaccurate.
