You are not using the version from 8.04, so closing the bug. We can't
fix old versions of a proprietary drivers.. (not that we can fix any of
them for that matter).

I was using the version installed with the daily build I downloaded
yesterday from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/, after
having allowed update manager to apply all updates. It appears that the
/etc/apt/sources.list on that CD references slightly different
repositories than the
oh.. maybe the mirror was just out of date? Anyway.. weird :)
