Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: metacity

Normally, using aMSN or anyother IM client, when a message arrives there
is some sort of notification.

Using metacity in hardy, this notification started to not work at all.
There is no "flashing" or "blinking" of the task bar at all, its like no
notification exists.

This issue did not exist in metacity - gutsy version, only on hardy.

I have done more testing, and if using compiz as a window manager,
flashing is back on the task bar.

Steps to reproduce:

1) On latest gnome - hardy and using metacity, install amsn from the
repositories\
2) Log in an have a friend talk to you and count from 1 to 20.
3) Minimize the contact window while your contact is talking
4) ---> The task bar 'entry' of the minimised contact window does NOT blink.

5) run compiz --replace to enable compiz window manager
6) ---> Blinking / flashing works.
7) run metacity --replace now
8) ---> Blinking stops again.

In kde3 and kde4, blinking works like usual, the issue is specific to metacity
in gnome.

Has something changed with regards to the notification?
