Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Hardy, fully updated to the end of 2008.04.23., on both generic
and rt kernels.

If file is being copied anywhere, it's modification time reset to current time. 
This happens systemwide: on /, /home, /media/* on any filesystems.
Privileges or applications do not matter: copying under user or root, in 
Nautilus or with cp, result in loss of timestamp!
Changing "realtime" to "defaults" (or full set of defaults options) in fstab 
does not solve the problem.

I'm already lost timestamps on many files. There were no such error on
gutsy.
