Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed
in the latest development version of Ubuntu - the Jaunty Jackalope. It
won't be fixed in previous versions of Ubuntu because the package
doesn't fit the
Fix confirmed. For the default gnumeric package no plugins are loaded
(in contrast to the gnumeric-gtk package). Enabling the plugins fixes
the issue.

I can confirm this behavior in gnumeric 1.8.2-1ubuntu1. gnumeric-gtk
1.8.2-1ubuntu1 does not have this bug.

I see the same bug in gnumeric version 1.8.2-1ubuntu1 under Ubuntu 8.04,
and confirm that installing gnumeric-gtk in place of gnumeric fixes it.
Using the gnumeric package, only a few functions (min, max, sum,
product, and a very few more) are defined.

Found a workaround: the gnumeric-gtk package does not seem to be
effected by the formula problem (nor the About dialog).

Please find attached the test spreadsheet and the screen shot of the
results on my system.
PS. I wanted to include the Help/About dialog in the screen shot, but
this also seems broken as it doesn't appear via Help/About in the menu.

Hmm, that spreadsheet works fine. You may need to have the gnumeric-doc package
install for the About dialog, although that seems a tad odd. In any case,
everything works for me, pi, sin, log, About. To get the version of gnumeric
you have installed, run:
dpkg -l | grep gnumeric
in a
~$ dpkg -l | grep gnumeric
ii gnumeric

The only one I'm getting this with is PI, all the other ones seem to

Actually, PI() does work, PI doesn't and apparently shouldn't. Can you
either give use a sample formula or spreadsheet? I'm not seeing a
regression here.
