I'm afriad to say the updates from .35 -> .36 today for both restricted
modules and NVidia driver did not fix this.

Unfortunately today's update didn't seem to do it. I've attached my xorg
log. As a side note the NV driver seems to work in this version but I
don't get all of my colours as gradients are badly pixelated and blocky.
Hope the logfile helps, if there is anything else I can do don't
hesitate to ask.

Thanks for your update, I might give that a shot, but as of this morning
a new update was rolled out, so I'm going to try that. I'd like to avoid
installing the Nvidia one as it was like this in Fiesty, Gutsy fixed it,
I'm hoping not to take backwards steps...

I think this bug is related to bug #208718 . I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 with
the same problem.
The workaround is to install the latest drivers from nvidia.com (the one of the
10th of April is known to work ok)

Ok having restarted to switch back to Nvidia driver, grab the logfile
and restart X again, when back in vesa mode the top of the screen is
corrupted with a black bar approx 2cm in thickness with flecks of
Magenta through it, then also the screen is shifted approx 1/3 to the
right, with the rightmos
