Public bug reported: When the Assistive Technologies are turned on and Orca is run at start, then a distribution upgrade from 7.10 to 8.04 will freeze on the first step "Preparing to upgrade". The /var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log will stop at the line
DEBUG running doUpdate() (showErrors=False) Simply exiting Orca didn't help. I had to 1) uncheck "Enable assistive technologies" in System -> Preferences -> Universal Access 2) uncheck "Run at start" for Orca in Preferred Applications -> Accessibility 3) reboot After that, the upgrade went flawlessly. I encountered this problem on two different systems, so I'm sure this is a bug. Thank you for looking at it. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Upgrade to Hardy freezes with Assistive Technologies and Orca turned on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/227446 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
