This bug actually is in synaptic and I was searching for the string
incorrectly. Additionally, this is fixed in the synaptic--main branch
of synaptic but not in the ubuntu branch and will be fixed in Intrepid.

One way to find out whether or not this is a synaptic bug is to check
the bzr trees for that string - https://code.launchpad.net/synaptic/ .
I have the ubuntu and main branches on my system and couldn't find this
string. I wonder if this isn't theme related somehow.

selected the Add/Remove... error window. It appeared as Synaptic.

Edit: I discovered that Add/Remove.. is actually gnome-app-install, but
the error message appears as Synaptic. I'm going to change it to gnome-
app-install, unless somebody can confirm it as Synaptic.
