- Can you try the latest driver from ATI. It solves 1 issue when switching to
console.
- Can you report it to ATI bugtracker http://ati.cchtml.com/
It that fails I'm afraid we can't go any further here because this
proprietary driver is not supported by Ubuntu.

That is no problem, because I can replicate this bug anytime I use ctrl-
alt-F1 and then ctrl-alt-F7 again.
I think only /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old got created, /var/log/kern.log.0
has yesterday stamp, only kern.log was created... I'm attaching all them
files anyway.

The next time a freeze occurs, can you reboot and see there is something
captured in the file /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old and /var/log/kern.log.0 .

And one more thing, since I believe I wasn't precise enough in my
original post: when I try logout/relog or switching users, login screen
appears and works fine, freezing only happens when I actually try to
login again. Username and password are accepted fine, but then screen
just goes black and s
