E: mailman: subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 1
A workaround that at least allowed me to uninstall mailman:
1. Move aside the postinstallation script of mailman:
cd /var/lib/dpkg/info
mv mailman.postinst mailman.postinst.defunct
Alternatively, you can simply make it empty.
2. Now uninstall the package
sudo apt-get remove mailman
...
Anyone poking at this yet?

I can confirm this. I can't uninstall mailman either, using hardy.
