This sounds like it could be related to bug #288502. There is definitely something a bit odd about how KDE4 handles cursor themes, as I have the same problem in KDE4 of setting a different cursor theme and the oxygen cursors still being used sometimes instead. -- Oxygen cursor theme showing up

As is my luck, by the time I open my mouth about it, it starts to behave like it should. So many times I had to remove the cursor set just so it wouldn’t pop up randomly… It seems it finally does work, needs a few restarts and it’s clear. Aside: is it me or, are the NESW and NWSE cursors mixed
