I can confirm this too but I don't think the description is complete: in fact,
it seems that Fusion-icon has different preferences from the system, rather
than just displaying the previous choice.
If you select either WM in its menu, the choice will be lost after a reboot,

I can confirm this bug. The same problem occurs when you use "metacity
--replace" or "compiz --replace". fusion-icon does not recognize which
window manager is actually running, it just keeps its old value.
