It's fixed, tested on the same machine upgraded to 8.10 with openoffice.org
1:2.4.1-11ubuntu2
Problem persists on 8.04.1 (another x86 machine).
Which was the patch that fixed it? I couldn't find it in changelogs.

I don't have a machine with 8.10 yet, but the problem persists in up-
to-date 8.04.1 with openoffice.org 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2.

I'm attaching a stripped down version of a document which has this
problem. It was originally an .xls, but both .xls and .ods saved in OOo
have this problem.
Steps to reproduce the freeze:
copy a cell containing text (ctrl-c)
paste it into an empty cell (ctrl-v)
press F2 to edit the contents of

Does this problem happen on every document or only on some of them? If
it is only specific documents that have this problem can you please an
example document having this problem?

This bug seems to be hard to reproduce with some people seeing it but
