one more thing that I have discovered - I don't know if it is only a
random but anyway: sometimes when I visit the page again after it
crashed and don't do anything during the loading (browsing in other
tabs, writing,...etc..) - so the page loads OK. Strange, no?
(I have also a dual screen.)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue
for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

There doesn't seem to be anything in the X log/config to suggest this is
an Xorg issue. Maybe collect backtraces from the crashing applications
to see where they're crashing. If there is a common lib or something
they're all showing crashes in, then file this bug against that package.
Shutdowns are becoming more frequent, and are occurring during typing in
data fields, not just page access.
Also, Firefox frequently becomes unresponsive, and the window colors
desaturate, as in [Bug 230922] Firefox grays out and crashes from May.
Firefox occasionally recovers from this state in
not sure. this is definitly not a firefox bug if even konqueror and
midori shuts down. Please post your xorg.conf and your Xorg.log taken
_after_ the crash to check if this might have something to do with your
driver settings.
Did you run an extensive memory check yet to rule out hardware

It turns out that all the other browsers I tried (all latest Ubuntu) are
also crashing or shutting down on accessing Web pages and in some cases
at other random moments. I tried installing Firefox 2, but it is no
better.
Firefox 2,
Galeon,
Konqueror,
Midori
