Hi
I've been using my Dell Dimension 5000 with Ubuntu for a while now, but
when this Monday I turned the PC on, I couldn't get network connection.
If I starting with the boot cd, network works ok. Network was working
last Thursday.
After some digging I have found out that lspci can see my network card,
but lshw says this: "network UNCLAIMED" (booting with boot cd does not
say UNCLAIMED). I'm guessing it's a driver problem, probably after some
update I may have done last week. Since my PC only has one network card,
I cannot try and update my Ubuntu to see if has been fixed.
I have looked on many forums and bug reports, but all I can see is
networking problems after a while, or wireless problems solved with
ndiswrapper. I really do not want to use ndiswrapper, specially because
I probably do not need it.
I'm attaching all the data I have gathered. Please tell me if you need
anything else, for example, these same commands on my running boot cd
(which I am using now).
