g_simple_async_result_run_in_thread has g_return_if_fail (func !=
NULL)
So, this should report some spew somewhere. You could break in g_log to find
it.

2.6.24-19-generic #1 SMP Wed Jun 18 14:43:41 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux)
It does not happen with e.g. synaptic, but happens every time with
gdmsetup. I am running from a root shell after running sudo su.

The new log has detailed informations now, the crash still looks weird
but upstream might have better idea on the issue, I've sent it on
