There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs

It'll reload the rules, but won't actually apply any of the changes they would mandate. You need to retrigger the appropriate hardware to actually get a permissions change, and that can have really dangerous side-effects in some cases (think a disk appearing twice, etc.) -- a dh_installudev

Good point. Though rules weren't reloaded at least when i tested on a hardy 8.04 live-cd. That should be reproducible. I had to do that manually. I can test again with Intrepid if you want. So I guess the question is at which point was the functionality Colin talked about working? -- a
