No. Was playing around with galculator for triaging another bug report
and then found this bug. So reported it :-)
Since two people have confirmed the same behaviour, I am forwarding this

Just out of curiosity, why are you using galculator instead of
gcalctool, which is the GNOME and Ubuntu default? Is it better somehow?
