Could we check for this and run it in the postinst if needed? We've done
similar things with libdb version transitions in other packages.

AFAIUI, courier's userdb is created from a textfile
/etc/courier/userdb. So the user would have to rerun `makeuserdb` to
recreate the databases.
A graceful, unattended update does not seem possible.
