Well, I'm running 8.10. This is just an update. I'm going to post if I
notice the issue continue. Otherwise I'll post an update. Otherwise I'll
post that it's working and say that I'm up for a 'Fix Released' but I
won't do it.

to try a live cd until I encounter the same issue right now so I home
this will be enough.

Thanks Michael. Could you also provide a tarball of /proc/acpi when your
battery is detected correctly.
Thanks in advance

What else do you want me to attach? I can do the tarball of acpi this
weekend if I have a chance but I'm pretty sure I've attached everything
else.

It's just the tarball of /proc/acpi and the output of uname -a that I
need.

Trying it now will be ok. You should be able to reproduce it from the
live CD if it is still an issue.
Thanks

Sorry for not getting back sooner. Thanks for trying with the current
Intrepid Alpha. After looking through your logs, I see the following
messages:
[ 24.351308] ACPI: Battery Slot [BAT0] (battery present) - from your
'working' dmesg
[ 24.563099] ACPI: Battery Slot [BAT0] (battery absent) -
I booted into the current aplha release. It seems to be working in the
version. I'll close this bug if no problems come up after release.
Either way, I am seeing more hardware support. There's a WLAN light on
my laptop I didn't know existed until I booted up into this :P

This is flagged as incomplete. It hasn't worked right the last two
boots. What else am I supposed to do?

Michael,
Could you please attach your dmesg log after a fresh boot please? You
can do this by typing dmesg dmesg.log in to a terminal and attaching
the resulting file dmesg.log.
Thanks

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, , because your description
didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How
to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html.
As I said previously - I have NO idea what causes it to work or not
work. I've seen it both work and not work on a full/half charge, power
dis/connected.
I'm going to attach the files I can from that DebuggingGNOMEPowerManager
page. As I am generating these files, it is not working correctly.

H, HAL thinks you have no battery at all. I thought you meant that
the state of the battery was incorrectly reported.
I'm assigning this to HAL for now until we find out exactly what is
going on.
