I confirm that editing
rocksndiamonds-3.2.4+dfsg/debian/rocksndiamonds.postinst and rebuilding
package fixes the problem.

The problem is caused by a bash-ism in the .postinst file, which fails if
/bin/sh is dash.
The following patch fixes the problem:
