Bug still present on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, running on an HP Elitebook 850
G2. Ubuntu is installed on an SSD, and I noticed that there were long
delays that the hard drive light wasn't active. A check of dmesg showed
two ~6 second delays in the boot process, both on the same problem:
...SNIP...

** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 100110
18 seconds ACPI delay while booting due to DSDT FSJ AMILO Xi 1554

Title:
sheps999, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue?
Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images
are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .
If it remains an issue,
Recent kernel update to Fedora (2.6.29.6-217.2.7.fc11.x86_64) doesn't
fix this.

The fix found by sheps999 works for me. I'm marking this bug as a
duplicate and subscribing the ACPI team to it.
** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 100110

On openSUSE, the problem seems to be solved with a recent kernel update
to 2.6.27.25-0.1-pae.

I can confirm this on my laptop, Amilo Pi 1556 with Jaunty 32 bit. It
hangs to this stage for about 20 secs. Rest of the boot proccess goes
normally.

Same problem here on the release version of jaunty 64bit, was also

I tried the 2.6.29.1 and 2.6.30-rc3 kernels from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ and they too give this
wait.

I'm not entirely sure this is an acpi problem. There is still an 8s wait
with acpi disabled (I used acpi=off noacpi).
