I fully agree, this supposed function is still completely broken. If
Ubuntu wants to tout itself as a OS that can seamlessly switch between
networks then something this simple should just work.

addresses on 2 different networks, with only one lan card, because when
I set the mac address, the profile does not show in the network manager
