Andreas - I'm not so sure that is true. I had to disable the alt-key menu-access option to allow me to create the shortcuts in the first place. After they were created, I left alt-key menu-access unchecked, and it still didn't work. -- gnome-terminal ignores some custom alt+letter keyboard

This is unsurprising given the ALT key is used to bring the menus up. So ALT+T brings up the 'Terminal' menu, and ALT+V brings up the 'view' menu. So in effect you have ALT+T assigned to two things. Perhaps gnome- terminal should realise this and either refuse to let you make the configuration
