Just to follow up. I repeated the test with slightly different starting
conditions.
Attempting a test upgrade from kubuntu hardy kde4 to intrepid. This test
was performed in a completely clean fully up to date kubuntu virtual
machine in virtualbox. This machine had the kde-members kde4 ppa
