Hi, it's still a problem in 9.04, but now i've found a way to fix it by
blacklist the system beep
so now it finally works perfect for me :)

Now with the 2.6.26-12-generic kernel almost everything works exept that
i have to logout before i shut down the computer.
Othervise it freezes, but if i turn off ACPI in grub i works
so still the only 100% vorking kernel is 2.6.26-5-generic

im unable to perform step 4 because the system has freeze
it occurs only when there is an incoming mail, today i upgraded to
2.6.26-7-generic kernel
but still it is only the 2.6.26-5-generic kernel that works
i also got the inbox and trashbox trashed today when i
whatever an user application is doing the system should not hang, that's
either an xserver or linux bug
