I encountered a problem with it : it breaks compatibility with real legacy grub.
My grub is installed in (hd0), with its stages and a simple menu.lst (attached)
kept appart from any distribution. As I did not use chain-loading, but only
configfile instead, it was failing to boot (uuid myuuid not

This looks fine, although if there's the slightest whiff of a regression
we'll need to guard it with an environment variable and use it only for
USB installs.
