I installed the latest kernel (2.6.32-999) [1] along with the latest Xorg stuff from the XOrger's PPA [2] and the 1152x864 option is now listed. I did try just the updates from the XOrgers PPA with the current kernel in karmic (2.6.31-16), but that didn't fix it. I haven't rolled back the

This is also a problem in karmic Alpha 3. I can boot the live-cd but I get no visual, only a dark screen. I can hear the welcome sound when booting into gnome, but screen is completely dark. I have the same intel graphic card as in post 4 above. -- [i845] display problem
