thank you and I'm sorry, your feedback from Dec 7th seems to have
slipped my attention. Joanmataro's comments caught it again.
I tried sudo apt-get install --reinstall module-init-tools a moment
ago and no problem occurred.

i do this, sudo apt-get install --reinstall module-init-tools and appears E:

I put 'dpkg --configure -a' and appears dpkg: ../../src/packages.c:221:
process_queue: Assertion `dependtry = 4' failed.

Something has probably gone wrong with a previous install.
You can solve this by running the following command:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall module-init-tools
