Hrm, linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24 seems to update automatically with a
machine I have here with Hardy installed. Are you possibly missing
another meta package like linux-image-generic?

Just curious if you could comment if this issue remains in the more
recent Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release? You could even test via a LiveCD.

It's fine in intrepid.
I eventually figured this out -- sorry for forgetting about the bug.
The problem is that I need the 'tp_smapi' module loaded for unsuspend to
work. In hardy (but not intrepid) this module is in the package linux-
ubuntu-modules-kernel version-generic. Unlike all the other
