Put in an old nVidia TNT2 PCI graphics card, let xserver autoconfigure

Doing some more investigation, it appears that the freeze happens when

More testing reveals that the system will always freeze eventually. I
tried disabling USB in BIOS, still freezes. Tried just using PS/2
keyboard, no mouse plugged in, still froze when I launched Update
Manager, or Open Office.

I am getting a similar problem. I have a GA-PCV2 motherboard, installed
Jaunty, then at random times the whole system freezes. Sometimes I get
to log in, the Ubuntu desktop is shown, I then start to do something and
then the whole system freezes with display in tact. Sometimes it
freezes after

Have you tried the release candidate for 9.04 by any chance? I would but
i am going to wait until the official release date as i have a very
limited data allowance. So sick of using fedora.

I also have this problem - I have tested it with two different versions
of the GA-PCV2 motherboard, one with the VIA Samuel 2 800 MHz processor
(GA-PCV2 CSI-SI) and one with the VIA Nehemiah 1.0 GHz processor (GA-
PCV2 DSI-ID). Otherwise, the boards are identical. I successfully
installed 8.10 on

still having these problems, i can run fedora 9 and 10 though, hope that
helps
