Hernando, I found the following information at the paga at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/partman-basicfilesystems . When formatting over the top of an existing swap partition, preserve its UUID to avoid leaving systems that use UUIDs in /etc/fstab without swap. So, I suspect that even if

I have used the Intrepid Beta CD to do 3 installations and although the partitioner did mark the existing swap partition with use as swap, the format this partition box was unchecked. As a matter of fact, in one of the installations I was able to format the root partition using other means, then
