instructions at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and upload
the backtrace (as an attachment) to the bug report. This will greatly
help us in tracking down

Forgot this bug please as I seem to have got gedit to work, not sure how
but after leaving the application for while it seems to load now rather
than crash immediately.
I put this down to being an upgrade as their are a few other issues I am
not happy with, I plan to fresh install in 3
closing the bug since that works correctly now, you can reopen or send a
new bug if you get the issue again though
