Sorry for the long delay.
Now I had the chance to install the server again with the final Ubuntu Server
CD, and got the error again. I copied the /var/log/installer directory and
attached it here. I hope it will help.

Now I tried also the Intrepid RC: it shows the same behavior as the
final CD. Somewhere between Alpha5 and the RC the installer got this
bug.
